Gastronomy is one of the most dynamically developing areas of city life. In 2019, the authoritative international rating "The 50 Best Restaurants in the World" included 7 restaurants and bars in St. Petersburg. More than half of the annual St. Petersburg festivals in the field of art, culture and gastronomy take place at the international level.

“The Silver Necklace of Russia is an interregional tourism project, consisting of a set of routes that unite historical cities (regional centers, large settlements in the North-West of Russia), which have preserved unique historical and cultural monuments, as well as natural objects, including those included in the list UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Representatives of the restaurant, culinary and gastronomic businesses, as well as representatives of the entities included in the interregional tourism project "Silver Necklace" (St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Pskov, Novgorod regions, the Republic of Karelia and Komi, Nenets Autonomous Okrug), who have “live” practice and practical experience in the development of gastrotourism within the framework of the Silver Necklace project.
